Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was TV personality and former chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and formerly teaches cooking. The host of the Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, in her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Cook she demonstrates easy-to-master techniques, as well as her famous blonde spiky locks. Chef Burrell also has worked in the top New York restaurants, studied Italian cuisine and the traditions associated with it, and competed in Food Network Iron Chef America. Growing up in upstate New York, Chef Burrell was captivated by cooking and eating at an early age. The Culinary Institute of America was the next step for her following graduation with A Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications in the fall of 2004 from Canisius College Buffalo NY. She says "I loved being a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. I was awed by every minute." It was difficult to master and do enough or put in the hours. After graduating, Chef Burrell took a gap year to Italy participating in an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners as well as working for La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria and La Bottega del 30 a 1 Michelin star restaurant in Tuscany. Burrell gained a greater understanding of Italian food and culture while in Italy and this has affected her style of cooking. Burrell was part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board to brighten children's lives who are facing problems. Additionally, she is a Juvenile Research Foundation celebrity ambassador who promotes awareness of children with diabetes. In her capacity as a speaker, Burrell travels across the nation to speak about her passion for food and her culinary career. In her journey to culinary excellence, Anne has often said that I am so lucky to be able to share what I love most in life with others.
