Pollyanna McIntosh

Pollyanna McIntosh was a child in Portugal and Colombia before returning to her hometown of Scotland, where she first began to perform on stage in The Edinburgh Festival. At the age of 16, she relocated to London where she started working in independent filmmaking. (Her first paid gig in The Acid House was as a stoner in the film Irvine Welsh (1998)). She has also participated in theater, both as an actor as well as a director. The move to Los Angeles in 2004 led to more stage work. She directed Anne Dudek (a regular star on Mad Men/Big Love (2006)) as and David Dayan Fisher (a regular star in 24 (2001/NCIS 2003)) to praises of awe. In Headspace (2005), she got her first US movie part as "Stacy" an manipulative person who was a newly-baptized Christian. The role was later recast in the role of "Thumper Wint", a wild, born-again Christian in Sex and Death 101 (2006) (Simon Baker/Winona Rider) as played by Heathers (1988). The reviewers were awed by her distinctive combination of sensuality and irreverent humor. Exam (2009), which was shot in London and LA it was her following film. It was nominated for Outstanding British Debut by the BAFTA and also won the Santa Barbara Film Festival's Best Independent Award. The film's critics applauded Pollyanna's capability to "emotionally vulnerable" her tough, ambitious character. GQ stated that Pollyanna McIntosh, who is a phenomenal actor who is "extremely skilled". Como Quien No Quiere La Cosa (2013) (As if you Don't Like it! ) is a funny South American farce in which she is Brit actor Trevor Lock's disgruntled wife. She is fluent in Spanish throughout the film which was made in Peru. John Landis directs Burke and Hare (2010). She is Isla Fisher's bestie along with Andy Serkis and Jessica Hynes and Tom Wilkinson. Her intense performance as the lead character in Lucky McKee's The Woman (2011) made the news at Sundance 2011. The film received great reviews and took the top spot in the New York Times readers' preferred films poll. She was honored with three Best Actress Awards, including Total Film's Frightfest Award, and Fright Meter's.
