Paula Patton

Paula Patton was born in Los Angeles, California, to Joyce (Vanraden) and Charles Patton. Her father is African American, while her mother is caucasian and is of German, English and Dutch ancestry. Her family lived right across from the 20th Century Fox lot when she was growing old and she was a lover of movies in her early days. Her mom was a teacher and her father worked as an attorney. Paula states that as young, she would try to escape from the world by "pretending to pretend to be someone else" which is why it came as an unsurprising that she performed in high school plays at Hamilton Magnet Arts High School. Her favorite role was the one of Abigail in "The Crucible". She pursued her studies at the University of Southern California, where she completed a program for summers in film. In that time, she was awarded a 3-month project to create documentaries for PBS. The result was that she was hired as a production assistant for documentary films on TV as well as Howie Mandel’s talk show. Her career progressed to producing documentary segments for Medical Diaries (2000) airing on Discovery Health Channel. Paula says she enjoys doing what she loves, but she has a longing to be a performer. She was almost instantly successful and was featured in major roles in Hitch (2005), Idlewild (2006) and also the lead female character in Deja Vu (2006) opposite Denzel.
