Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland was born to actresses Melissa D. Canaday, and Edward James Hyland in New York City. She started her career in the industry at the age of four with commercial work as well as voice-overs. Private Parts was her first film. The Object of My Affection (1998) was followed by Another World (1964) where she played "Rain Wolfe" the child found in a park, who was looked after and loved by Josie. Sarah would be working with Amy Carlson ("Josie") at least a couple of times more: Falcone (2000). Law & Order (1990). Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005). Sarah was cast for the role of "Audrey Hepburn" in Jennifer Love Hewitt’s The Audrey Hepburn Story (2001). In the same year, she was also named "Molly” in ABC’s The Wonderful World of Disney: Annie (1999). The show starred Kathy Bates, Audra Mcdonald, Victor Garber, Kristin Chenoweth and Joe Gould’s Secret (2000) and Falcone (2000). In addition to her TV and film roles, Sarah studied voice, ballet, jazz, hip-hop and tap Theatre Dance, and performed in her tap and Theatre dance classes in "Reel to Real" at Lincoln Center as invited performers.A born in New York and raised there, Sarah spent much of her time working in television, film, and voicing many radio ads and also traveling with her father, Edward James Hyland, when he was employed at many different theaters across the country. When she was home-schooled by her mom, she attended public school until second grade. She was accepted in 6th grade to PPAS (Professional Performing Arts School), where she remained until she graduated in 2008 Sarah was just 18 when she relocated to Los Angeles. She landed a pilot called "My American Family" within two weeks. The name was changed to Modern Family (2009, after Sarah was selected). Sarah currently portrays Haley Dunphy, the oldest Dunphy child. Modern Family (2009) won numerous awards, but the most notable was the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series.
